"Becky Stark grew up in Oak Park, where she enjoyed going to the farmers market every summer. After going to college in Chicago, she moved to California, worked for a conservation organization, and developed an interest in plant propagation. This job led her to study Ecology at the University of Minnesota, where she met her husband Nick. Their shared interest in sustainable agriculture led them back to California and then Chicago, where they worked at several organic farms. They started Midnight Sun Farm in 2010 with two acres of vegetables and 100 chickens. Since then, the farm has grown and found a long-term home in Harvard, IL. They sell vegetables and eggs through a CSA program and two farmers markets. Nick also raises turkeys and pigs. One of Becky's favorite things about communicating with CSA members and market customers is talking recipes, preservation and storage tips. Over the years, she has thought and written a lot about vegetables, how to prepare them, and how to make the idea of eating them more accessible and appealing to everyone. Becky, Nick, and their son Ray live on the farm in Harvard, IL.”
